USTA Community Tennis Development Workshop

It's not often that the USTA comes to the DC area, much less Arlington County. So today I had a peek over at the conference.  They offered a lot of different programs and speakers, including an all-day Recreational Coaches Workshop at the Crystal City Sport and Health.

The conference goes on all-weekend, so I'll report back on any new developments and recap. Lots of great grass-root organizations including "Tennis in the Parks" with Arlington's own Eric Legg making an appearance.

My most notable meeting was with Joe Dinoffer, CEO of and was at the ballroom level to display his quick start tennis products and teaching aids for children.  He's been on many great tennis programs on the Tennis Channel and provides very innovative and clever tools to get kids into the game.

Also there was Patricia Egart, the author of a wonderful children's book to teach parents and kids about tennis. It is written from the perspective of a 12 year old boy, Andy Ace.  It also very well illustrated to guide young players gently into the basics of tennis. You can also find the book and its other reviews for "Let's Play Tennis" at Amazon.
